Phablets, as we commonly know, are devices that combine the functions of a telephone with the size and features similar to a tablet. Hence the two words are combined to create a new word ‘phablet’.
These phones are designed in a way that the user can have all the functions of a telephone and all other multimedia devices that they wish to use. These devices are a combination of the following: gaming computers, entertainment centers, video recorders and cameras. They are the ultimate in smart phones and above all they employ all the latest technology.
These devices are even smaller than an average tablet but bigger than an average cell phone. Most of the items have software installed in them. Some features such as taking notes and sketching are way advanced beyond what they would be on a Smartphone.

A phablet can support 3G, Wi-Fi, proxy server connections and Bluetooth for a faster data transfer. The screens can be up to 7 inches, however this item is still very light and you won’t feel like its cumbersome carrying one. This means a thinner device made of much higher quality materials. The screens are made from scratch resistant materials so you can even opt to stay without a screen cover. But if you decide to get a screen cover, then they are many available made from materials with self healing properties so if by any chance they get small blemishes, they are able to fill the blemish in where it does not hinder your viewing of the screen. Quite amazing really.
With the help of this device a person can do any work a laptop or a desktop can do. Here you can type papers, access files stored in other locations, research information and even video conference with clients. This makes them even more intrusting since you they can do their work without being tied to any desk or inside an office.
The first device to be introduced was called “streak” and was manufactured by Dell in 2010. This phablet had a five inch display while an average Smartphone screen display which was had 3 inches. Today there is a new Dell Streak that uses Android operating system, 5 inch touch screen, a couple of cameras, VGA -Resolution one on the front for video calling and 5MP one with a dual-LED flash at the back.
Today there are many types of these devices being used. It’s estimated that this number will increase up to one hundred and forty million users by 2016.
So, if you want to ease your work and enjoy the new technology in mobile telecommunication, then phablet is the way to go.
